Dundry Nurseries has come a long way since the first seed was sown by my Grandfather, Robert Palmer, in 1947. I`m now the third generation of the family to run our traditional nursery and garden centre, and along with our friendly, experienced staff, we pride ourselves on our gardening knowledge. We are always happy to give a helping hand or answer your questions. At our site, between Cheltenham and Gloucester, we produce a varied range of home grown bedding and vegetable plants, and alongside this we offer all the essential ingredients for successful gardening.

We are also famous for our seed potato selection, which is second to none. We are proud to offer over 100 varieties, and all are sold loose. We look forward to welcoming you soon to Dundry Nurseries.

Jobs for April

  • Plant Seed Potatoes - 1st and 2nd Earlies 12" between tubers, 12" between rows. Main Crop 12" between tubers, 18" between rows
  • Protect fruit blossom from frost with fleece
  • Plant onion sets and shallots
  • Top dress beds and borders with manure or pelleted chicken manure
  • Divide established perennials like Hostas to create new plants
  • Plant out young veg plants - we have a wide range in stock
  • Feed trees and shrubs with a slow release fertiliser like Fish, Blood and Bone
  • Cut back Penstemons before the new growth emerges
  • Plant up a herb bed or large pot with several different sorts, choose varieties that you use regularly
  • Dead head daffodils and tulips, this will stop them developing seed and will put energy into the bulbs for next years growth
  • Plant climbers such as clematis and honeysuckle
  • Sow tomatoes, lettuce and brassica seeds using a specialist seed compost
  • Pot dahlia tubers into 2 litre pots in a greenhouse or conservatory
  • When the ground is warm enough direct sow beetroot, carrot and parsnip seeds
  • Feed raspberries, currants and gooseberries with Fish, Blood and Bone
  • Sow annuals like marigolds
  • Plant blueberries in ericaceous compost, or feed established plants with an acid feed
