Your local family run Garden Centre

Dundry Nurseries has come a long way since the first seed was sown by my Grandfather, Robert Palmer, in 1947. I`m now the third generation of the family to run our traditional nursery and garden centre, and along with our friendly, experienced staff, we pride ourselves on our gardening knowledge. We are always happy to give a helping hand or answer your questions. At our site, between Cheltenham and Gloucester, we produce a varied range of home grown bedding and vegetable plants, and alongside this we offer all the essential ingredients for successful gardening.

We are also famous for our seed potato selection, which is second to none. We are proud to offer over 90 varieties, and all are sold loose. We look forward to welcoming you soon to Dundry Nurseries.

Jobs for August

  • Water Camellias and Rhododendrons well as they form buds for next years flowers this month
  • Harvest spring sown carrots and beetroots
  • Feed tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and aubergines once a week with a high potash feed - liquid tomato feed is perfect
  • Dead head bedding plants regularly to encourage more flowers through summer and into autumn
  • Cover brassicas with netting to protect against Cabbage White butterflies
  • Prune summer flowering shrubs and perennials once they have finished blooming
  • Pot on strawberry runners for new plants next year
  • Plant out pak choi and other autumn veg plants
  • Cut back or mow wildflower areas to help scatter the seeds
  • Harvest the last of the second early potatoes, most varieties will store well in paper sacks
  • Pinch out the growing tips of tomato plants once they have 5 or 6 trusses of fruit
  • Cut back the fruited canes of summer raspberries
  • Sow Wallflowers
  • Lift and dry onions once the leaves begin to flop and turn yellow
